A new kind of social media
Social media is everywhere. Yet it often leaves us feeling distracted, drained, or left out. At Blybahn, we want to show it can be different: a platform built not on endless scrolling or chasing likes, but on joy, meaning, and giving.
Our name
“Blybahn” combines the Dutch word blij (happy) and the German bahn (path). It means: the route to joy. A path we’re building together.
Our philosophy: giving, not receiving
On Blybahn, appreciation isn’t about showing off or competing.
- You can see your own received Likes and Diamonds.
- But when you look at others, you only see how much they have given. Not what they’ve collected.
This flips the usual social media model: the focus is on generosity, not vanity.
How it works
- Daily Joys: share the small things that made your day. Each Daily Joy is connected to one of your Top 5s.
- Top 5s: each user defines their personal top 5 values, interests or passions. Daily Joys are linked to these.
- Likes to Give: earned by being active, they’re limited. So every like counts.
- Diamonds to Give: extra appreciation you can buy. 10% of every Diamond purchase goes directly to charities you choose.
- Early supporters: buy Diamonds in the first five batches and unlock special perks like profile badges, roadmap access, voting rights, early betas, events, and more.
Our ambition
We’re aiming for something big but in a healthy way. A social platform that grows with meaning, not noise. Where people connect over what brings them joy, not what grabs attention.
Unlike traditional social media, you are not the product. Blybahn doesn’t sell your attention to advertisers. Instead, the model is simple: you use the app, you decide how much to give, and part of what you spend supports good causes.
A future of co-ownership
Blybahn isn’t just a platform to use, it’s a platform to help shape. That’s why we want our early supporters to potentially become co-owners of Blybahn.
After the first three Diamond batches are sold, we’ll explore how to make this possible. Only Diamonds from the first five batches may count towards eligibility.
We want to be transparent: this is an intention, not a promise. But it shows where we want to go; building a platform that truly belongs to its community.
